Metal gullet

ISN'T IT A NECESSITY?

Hidalgo leather tree saddles have an ingenious design; they do not have rigid gullet plates. This means that the front of the saddle can adjust itself to the horse’s withers. You do not need a saddle fitter to determine gullet size, nor do you need to change the gullet – the saddle does it all by itself without collapsing on the withers!

HIDALGO SADDLES' LEATHER TREE AND GULLET

Like the leather tree in the Hidalgo saddle, the gullet can also feel stiff when it’s new. Riding in the saddle will soften the leather in the gullet, like the rest of the saddle tree.

The video below explains what Hidalgo's flexible leather tree and gullet are like.

WHAT'S STOPPING THE SADDLE FROM COLLAPSING?

Hidalgo leather tree saddles have a lab tested supportive metal element over the stirrup bars (the only rigid structure in the saddle) which assists in weight distribution and ensures the gullet keeps its shape and does not collapse on the horse’s spine.

The below videos show the generous wither and spinal clearance Hidalgo saddles provide. These saddles will clear the highest of withers!
